20th Century Fashion Inspirations

Bonjour! If you have been reading my blog for a while you might be aware of my total obsession with Edwardian fashion and silhouettes. I love it so much that many of the garments I have are very reminiscent or inspired by specific dresses I have found and added to my numerous Pinterest boards that are dedicated to the topic. I have to admit I am more drawn to the later Edwardian garments. The pigeon mono-bosom look is not one I aim to wear often. Whereas  the empire waist silhouettes that were worn later in the period are much more modern and captivating to me.

Making A Pincushion: New and Improved!

P1080280.jpg

Hello everyone, sometime last August I went about making myself a pincushion. It was made around a matchbox because I wanted there to be storage for embroidery scissors and thread so it would be convenient for taking to and from school as well as the various spots I work in in the house.

Fall/Winter Wardrobe: Made and Done! (Part 2)

PC160254.jpg

Hello, here is part two of my finished fall/winter wardrobe. So this post consists of two shirts one Edwardian inspired and the other Rococo/ Marie Antoinette inspired. One is cotton and the other is my usual silk-cotton blend with chiffon. One is purple one is blue. I’m running out of ways in which to sum up their differences in obvious or one word descriptions. So I’ll just jump in and describe the shirts in their full, from dyes to sewing features to overall look and inspirations!

Anyways moving along. Today I am going to share with you my fall/winter wardrobe (aka my projects from my self-directed surface design class)! I hope you enjoy!

Hello everyone! It feels like it has been awhile since my posts have been regular but that is due to school starting again and it has started with a vengeance. So far most of my classes have been all right but I am most excited about my fibres dyeing and painting class as I get to pick and chose my own projects along with how and when I make them with a few loose due dates.

My Me-Made Wardrobe

P9050632.jpg

Hello everyone, recently I finally got to take proper pictures of a few of the tops that I have sewn, which is exciting to me for two reasons. Firstly because most of the pictures you have seen on the blog so far are taken quite quickly in the back room of the house with poor lighting so they aren’t photos I am particularly proud of or two think that they represent the best of natural dyes. So I took the time to take proper pictures of a few of my favorite shirts and I think they represent natural dyes beautifully and I want to share them with you.

Fabric Scraps – A Pincushion

P9050252.jpg

Hello everyone, most recently I made myself a proper pincushion. This post is an extension of a post I did a few weeks ago about using fabric scraps that you can read here. But this pincushion is very special to me because it is made of recycled materials and is inspired by a beautiful Russian pincushion I found online long ago.
