Hello everyone, today I am back with the last round of three dye tests I did and let me tell you that it was definitely a battle of the yellows and golds. For this round of tests that I conducted I used mainly odds and ends of flowers that I had collected and dyed that I wasn’t sure what colour would become of them.

Hello everyone, recently I finally got to take proper pictures of a few of the tops that I have sewn, which is exciting to me for two reasons. Firstly because most of the pictures you have seen on the blog so far are taken quite quickly in the back room of the house with poor lighting so they aren’t photos I am particularly proud of or two think that they represent the best of natural dyes. So I took the time to take proper pictures of a few of my favorite shirts and I think they represent natural dyes beautifully and I want to share them with you.

Hello! Today is the ninth installment of natural dye tests. I feel like I’ve done more natural dye tests than that but most of these posts have three different test materials so if you do the math that’s roughly 27 tests.

Hello everyone today is another round of natural dye tests. This time round I tested two different colours of clematis petals, one was a pale purple-pink colour and the other was a royal purple, and I did a solar dyeing test using petals that I only had bits and bobs of. This week I was determined to do a solar dye test that was committed. I feel as though the two other times I attempted it I didn’t want to commit materials to the tests. And some of the results were surprisingly pigmented whereas others were anemic. But doesn’t that seem like how most of my tests go?

Hello everyone, it is time for round four of natural tests for this year. Today we are taking a look at testing out two iris dyes and a poppy dye. I have been collecting the flowers and petals of these in the freezer since the beginning of June. So I thought it was about time to test out some of these plants. The results that I got were quite surprising though delightful.

Hello everyone, I can’t believe that it is July already! I’m not sure about you but June seemed like a long month to me. But I am excited that it is finally July as the vegetable garden really started to take off in the last week of June and everything is growing at super speed now. I was away that week and I was amazed when I came back at how much everything had grown, I think that happens to every gardener in summertime. As for the front garden the big exotic irises and poppies have finished flowering and have been replaced with other beautiful flowers, like snap dragons!

Hello everyone, today is round three of summer dye tests! This week was rather busy for me as it was the last week of my spring course (so happy to be done!) so I didn’t run the usual three tests. I only did two: one was frozen orange peels and the other was dried red petunias.
