Spinning With: Cashmere, Black Alpaca, Caramel Alpaca-Merino Blend.

Hello, today I am coming back at you with three new fibres I have spun with. I consider the cashmere the highlight of this post as it is luxurious and fancy, and the others are different versions of alpaca wool that I have already written about in a post. Although I will admit that the difference are bigger than you think they would be.

Adventures in Paper Making

P1080299.jpg

Hello, one of my goals for last year was to try my hand at papermaking. So I took a class in it! It was a basic class and I mostly experimented with adding natural dyes to the paper, only used the Hollander once, used the blender many times and learned that I do not like cotton paper at all.

Have you ever found it confusing to know the differences between the many types of wools? I know I have, I didn’t know the difference between Merino and Mohair to begin with. I just knew they both came from animals.

PC200243.jpg

When I look at that number I don’t think it looks like very much, but then for most of those posts you have to multiply by three because most posts equal three dye tests. So really I did thirty-three dye tests. That’s a high number. Think I can beat that in 2017? Anyways this post is four dye tests.

Black Hollyhock Natural Dye Test

PB120281.jpg

Hello there! Here is my latest natural dye test! This post only contains one dye test opposed to the usual three, but that is because this test was very specific for a shirt. And I knew the goal was blue. It had to result in blue (oops spoilers!) no if, ands or buts. I used black hollyhocks to achieve it and it worked with a little bit of help.
